The Challenge

Where are our civic leaders?

Pasifika people are the future of Aotearoa NZ. By 2038, Pasifika people will make up 10% of this country’s population. In our largest city, Tamaki Makaurau Auckland, the number is already 18.7% and set to grow.

But where are our civic leaders?

Why are our local boards, council wards and electorates not led by Pacific people - yet?

PaCIVICa is a politically neutral course for those who want to step up and represent our people in civic leadership. It’s two hours a week for six weeks, in person, and creates a safe learning space for those who are ready to commit. Date and venue TBC.

Who is it for?

PaCIVICa is for anyone who wants to learn how to serve their community in civic leadership, from a Pacific cultural point of view.

You have to be 18 or older to vote, or to stand for office, but you can learn at any age.

How much does it cost?

For a limited time the PaCIVICa course is 100% free of charge. If you are an organisation that wants to support our work equipping future leaders, please contact us to discuss sponsorship.

When does it start?

Our first intake course begins on May 6th, 2025 and runs until June 10th, 2025.

Sessions will run on Tuesday nights from 6-8pm for six weeks.

Will there be refreshments?

Yes there will be light refreshments. And we encourage you to bring a plate as well.
