These smiles say it all.

Each one belongs to a grassroots community champion who has completed the inaugural Te Tupu Tahi Funding Ready pilot — a six-week journey designed and delivered by Pacific Enterprise People (PEP) in partnership with Le Moana West Collective.

Across six weeks of talanoa, learning and laughter, these leaders explored what it truly means to be funding ready — not just in paperwork, but in purpose. Together we unpacked what funders look for, how to express community impact, and how to meet key funding criteria with confidence.

But Te Tupu Tahi was never only about forms and budgets. It was about voice. About story. About helping community leaders find the language to share the heart of their work — the why behind every event, initiative, and programme. Many participants said the most powerful part of the experience was learning to tell their story in a way that funders could understand and feel.

This journey also gave funders the chance to listen, learn, and see first-hand the creativity and commitment that already exists in our Pacific communities. That exchange — where communities and funders meet in genuine understanding — is where transformation begins.

There are many needs in our villages, churches and neighbourhoods, but there are also many resources. Te Tupu Tahi reminds us that when both sides come together with respect, openness, and shared intent, we close the gap — not just in funding, but in trust.

As each participant proudly received their certificate, the room was filled with something more than celebration — it was possibility. Seeds of future projects were planted, collaborations were born, and confidence took root.

Fa‘afetai tele lava to every participant for your courage and commitment. You have not only earned your certificates, you have strengthened your voice and your vision for your community.
